Sand and the Sea ( I )

ok ok....

it been ages since i last returned from my vacation.. heheh.... sighz wat to do sia.... was busy with work.... ummm.... ok lah, i actually got sick and tired of editing my hols pictures and the days passed me by....

but here are finally the pics!!!! to celebrate mr. d's birthday and because we were really in need of a break from the hum drums of  life. Since we were going to Gokarna beautiful beach in Southern Karnataka, we decided to hop over to Goa as well since the two was separated by a few hours of travelling duration.

So how was Goa???

My first impression?? Thank god, we have finally reached.... coz my darlin got tickets for an A/C sleeper bus and i got a bout of motion sickness... Huh... if u can call it a single case of a bout of sickness... in the beginning i slept like a babe as i always do but not for long...
around 3am i woke up by a need to pee.... damm the coconut water i had just before boarding the bus... but as a travelling toilet was not part of the bus..i had to control. not very comfortable- i tell you.... unable to hold it in any longer i inform mr. d to ask the driver to stop the bus...only to be told....

Me: baby..... i really need to pee...pls.... (at which point im already getting flask backs of my past urine infection incidents....)

Mr. d: #in a gruff voice- Hold it... i have been holding it since midnight too....

i think after what seemed like an eternity to me and me quite loudly proclaiming "if the fucking bus does not stop, i'm gonna f&^$% pee in a plastic bag!!" and thank the Lord... it finally stopped at a rest stop and i was the first to dash off... only to go in the wrong direction and ask for direction while hopping in one feet...

so i pee-ed, in a not very clean bathroom  but thoroughly relived that i st least did not have to pee in a plastic bag in a moving bus.... lolol...  with a empty bladder, i noticed the grumblings of my stomach and had some cashews and a couple of banana.... OH boy~ ~ ~

the remaining journey of appx 2 hr.... ???
i managed to puke up the cashews as Goa is famous for, the bananas... and last night dinner...
it's not a feat to be proud of but still......  i somehow managed to surprise mr. d by the amount of puking and also not go to sleep by filling up 5 plastic bags as he wondered what he should be doing....
In my defence i must say, it was because the bus was A/C , so there was no fresh air and also the seats was not a proper seat but instead beds also at the particular point the bus was travelling in winding rounds instead of  a straight road....

@___@

Dont know whether to be proud of the fact i actually managed to fill five bags or forever regret for blogging about the entire episode...

Moral of the story....??? Do not, i repeat... do not f*%king drink the f^&^$ tender coconut- no matter how much you might be tempted too while waiting for the dammit bus that operates on Indian Standard Time....

and yeah.... the non A/c buses are infinite times much better than the luxurious A/C buses.....

BUT... yeah soon... i was finally in GOA!!!!  ^____^ and i promise this was the only mention of puking (err....well... almost.... heheheh) after getting an old beat up Activa on rent for 250/- we were off....

First off was to the beach, where else?? Too tired to do much, i promptly feel alseep on the table as my glass of chilled Fosters got warmer by the second.... i know damm stupid lah but... wtf too darn hot sia...

In a matter of hours....this is what everyone and anyone will look like... all the various shades of red...

i really dont get the appeal of basically baking yourself in the hot sun to get a tan... i guess for westerns it might symbolise the free time and serious dough they have to basically loaf around and vaporise lah... go to St Topez, Florida, Bahamas etc etc.... How ironic is that in the  15th-18th century, women esp in the West would choose to apply harmful stuffs like lead, mercury etc to their faces just soo that they would get the lovely white skin. Whiten skin which implied that they had money to enble them to just stay indoors instead of working out in the fields.. a total 180' turn round in color yet still unable to learn the harmful effect of changing skin color.... 2 words: skin cancer

wtf happened??

at least the Asian women are consistent sia....

OK,  back to the topic at hand...

here's what we did in Goa... which was basically just roaming around on the beat up Activa at appx 30-40km....

outside the Kingfisher Villa.... umm.....

i wonder if the Kingfisher calender girls stay here whenever they come to Goa...

oh la la ~

saw numerous churches and chapels, small and big but didn't stop for neither a prayer nor a confession... #_#

found a really quaint lil' library that momentarily reminded me of my book worm days and some free art shows...

although the National Library at Sing was so much better... got to borrow up to 6 novels each time!!

the guy with the moustache is very much... striking.
X___X

kampong style houses all over the place... all that's missing are the chickens running amok trying to kill themselves crossing the road and the occasional moo (cow) dawdling the day away chewing it's cud...

it was a hot hot sunny day!!

and  i need some energy boost! nothing like a chocolate cake to perk me up!!

the "German Bakery shop" near the Candolim beach is run by a bunch of Nepali didis, boy am i proud of the fact that i can now travel anywhere in India and be able to feel comfortable as there are so many Nepali arounds... ^_^  the bakery items were pretty good too, might not be excellent but it had the taste of a homemade cakes & pastries (which it was.. as they operate out from their room with a small shutter in front) and taste-wise way better then "Butter Fingers" at Calungate.

After all that cake, it was time to fill up the tank too... and praise God, petrol in Goa is cheap. It's just 58.52 per liter compared to about 78-80 here in Bangalore.  If you going to Goa and do know how to ride, would advise you to pick up a scooty for the duration that you would be there. Rates are around 200-350. Nothing would beat the advantage of your own wheels and exploring colonial Goa with lotsa hidden jewels. Read here for infor on renting bullets... if you wanna.

jus coz.... im looking so pretty!
#shameless.. -__-

Seeing all the lovely cute floats makes me wanna go swimming....

@______@

but once at  Vagator beach i decided to just sit and chill out....

with a cool glass of refreshing ABC juice...ie Apple Beetroot and Carrot... very rejuvenating!!!

and just people watch...

mr. d say's im a pervert for spying on couples... um.... well duh..... it's just that all the single boys are so .... uninteresting! (sorry boys) and the single girls are well..... okish i guess... but why i like watching other couples is the inter-play of communication and body language between the two... it's fun. u might wanna go try it out as well. ^_^

it's just till the happy hour starts from 4pm and the lunch arrives....

this is the most beautiful screwdriver i have seen but also the most awful drink. i think they might have added maybe feni instead of vodka... and that too maybe 10-15ml of it... sighz....
i ended up drinking beer.
#_______#

lunch was chicken burger for him and seafood wrap pour moi.

tummy kush, lover boi kush!! ~_____~ lolol, but i think i was more happy out of the two.....

Vagator beach , north of Anjuna, is said to be the place for Goa's trance party scene. MAYBE we went at a wrong time but it was pretty laid back area with quite a number of trendy indian kids making noise and generally having fun (for them). Maybe im just too old.... maybe it's who i am but i seriously prefer a relatively secluded place with the working crowd... not too much of noise and not too expensive.  Which Ozran aka Lil Vagator is ... but bad drinks and comme si comme sa food.... oh well, i guess there are more beaches to go too...after all this is Goa.

On the way back...... nothing beats childhood treats on a hot summer days....

saw this  newly built locked Church beside a lake on an isolated stretch of road... wonder is it for protection against ghost & ghouls?? #just wondering.... #over active imagination

first and only sunset at Goa.... and darn am i looking so fatso ~ ___~

and the actual reason for the pit stop in Goa... would u believe i did not get a single full bottle because of someone..... @___@  just cant believe my luck to travel all the way to Goa, pay the liquor, carry it and not get a single fucking bottle once home........ wtf. #feeling better now that the ranting is over. #but still very disappointed. i just had 1/2 a bottle of port wine.

and an unexpected find... Koka in all sorts of variety! i might have gone a lil crazy there.... as it was only 30rs each!! in bangalore it's around 35-45rs and i would have to travell like 20kms to the mall.... read my 3am escapades with koka here.

Dinner at Tina's was fantastic! Chicken spring rolls for starters, tuna fettuccine and goan prawn curry. All super!!! Loved the food, the drinks (local port wine and coconut feni) and live music (mostly oldies)...  it a casual place, just the perfect place for a romantic dinner on vacation.

even the cruet set was so darn cute!!

next day....

on the way for breakfast..

Loved the fact that drinks are so cheap...

and the opening hours last as long as money's flowing out from your pocket....

chicken steak... okay. could do better...

wheat banana pancakes...

and the infamous and literal garlic bread, which we paid 65rs for.....  =__=''

moral of the story?? Never go for breakfast to a restaurant above a liquor shop.

on our way out of Goa...

Tina's by the day....

5 mins after boarding the bus... already dozing off.... but still managed to look like posing... lolol.... ^__^

upon arrival at Gokarana... the preparations for Mahashivaratri underway...

so this sums up part 1 of the trip, next up the 2 part. if there is something i might have missed out while in Goa is actually going to beautify myself (further) by going to the numerous Salons, Dentists and Cosmetic Doctors (for box on my jaws). All of which are doing a booming business due the huge influx of appearance conscious Western long term tourists..
